微软宣布将修改Windows系统，以便安全性供应商如CrowdStrike可以在操作系统内核外部运行。这一决定是在7月份发生的CrowdStrike更新导致广泛系统故障事件后作出的。
微软表示已与CrowdStrike、Broadcom、Sophos和Trend Micro等合作伙伴讨论了创建新平台的要求及主要挑战。
尽管微软没有明确表示将关闭Windows内核的访问权限，但显然正在设计一个安全平台，以便在未来将CrowdStrike等公司移出内核。
事实上，微软最后一次尝试限制Windows内核访问是在2006年的Windows Vista，但遭到了网络安全供应商和监管机构的反对。
