苹果新设计的 Mac Mini M4 摒弃了之前 M2 机型焊接在主板上的 SSD，改为单个可拆卸的 SSD 模块。尽管这并非苹果首款采用这种设计的桌面电脑，但在 Mac Studio 和 Mac Pro 中也有类似模块。
根据拆解分析，Mac Mini M4 拥有一个插槽双盘位，最大可升级至 2TB，使用 BGA315 硬盘。
不过，存储控制器仍嵌入在 SoC 中，限制了进一步的 DIY 升级或维修选择。
此外，基础版 Mac Mini 采用两颗 128GB 的 NAND 芯片，而非单颗 256GB，因此与之前发布的基础版 M系列 Mac 相比，性能瓶颈不大。
