在佛罗里达州彭帕诺海滩，一名司机因试图逃离跨年夜致使滑板车骑士遇难的事故而面临指控。事故发生在周二晚上10:30前，地点靠近Copans Road的3000号街区。
布劳沃德县警长办公室表示，24岁的Jacques Malik Mayfield驾驶一辆白色奥迪Q7，进入了电动滑板车的行驶路线，导致滑板车骑士Lokesley Myrthil撞上了其前挡风玻璃，随即被抛向路面。Myrthil当场死亡。
Mayfield在事故后继续驾驶，但最终停下了车，他和他的乘客逃走。警方很快找到了Mayfield和他的乘客，他们正试图搭乘网约车，并被逮捕。
Mayfield被控未在事故中停留、无照驾驶致死以及违反重罪假释等罪名。
