爱尔兰数据保护委员会（DPC）对Meta处以101.5百万刀的罚款，原因是该公司将超过五亿用户密码以明文形式存储多年，部分工程师接触这些数据已有十年以上。
该问题在2019年被发现，主要影响非美国用户，尤其是使用Facebook Lite的用户。
DPC副专员Graham Doyle表示，广泛认为用户密码不应以明文存储，因为这样会给有权访问这些数据的人带来滥用的风险。
Meta已就该问题进行了报告，但是在发现几个月后才进行的。
