多伦多警方表示已逮捕一名涉嫌出于同性恋恐惧而发动袭击的嫌疑人。事件发生在6月16日下午4点左右的Mt. Pleasant Road和St Clair Avenue East地区。
警方称，一名嫌疑人接近两名受害者，对他们发表反同言论后袭击了他们。警方表示，该事件的一名嫌疑人于8月8日被捕。
多伦多31岁的Marcos Aurelio Lima De Carvalho被控两项袭击罪，他将于9月19日出庭。警方在声明中表示：“此案正在被视为涉嫌基于仇恨的罪行。
警方呼吁任何持有更多信息的人与调查人员联系。
