数据显示，在2012年至2020年间，超过348,000吨塑料垃圾被长期丢弃在环境中。
其中包括30,000吨塑料瓶和72,000吨塑料薄膜，该薄膜用于购物袋和食品包装。
数据还显示，加拿大在2012年至2020年间的塑料生产或进口量增加了28%，加拿大人制造的塑料废弃物增加了14%。
